Sanitation Supervisor – Food Manufacturing
Location : Portland, OR
Schedule : Minimum 5 days / week | Weekend availability required
Status : Full-Time | Exempt
Reports To : Sanitation Manager
Compensation : $60,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Sanitation Supervisor to lead and coordinate hygiene and sanitation operations across our production facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and sanitation excellence in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
As a Sanitation Supervisor, you will be responsible for day-to-day leadership of a team of up to 15 sanitation technicians, ensuring that all equipment, utensils, and plant areas meet the highest cleanliness and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning activities in partnership with the Sanitation Manager
Lead sanitation operations across your shift, ensuring tasks are completed safely and thoroughly
Provide technical guidance and support to sanitation technicians
Prioritize workload to maximize cleaning efficiency and meet tight changeover timelines
Ensure accurate and timely completion of sanitation documentation and startup records
Participate in investigations of environmental monitoring positives and assist with root cause analysis
Operate and train team members on the safe use of cleaning equipment including pressure washers, chemical systems, steam units, and vacuums
Collaborate cross-functionally with QA and Maintenance teams to address work orders and sanitation needs
Approve timecards and provide end-of-shift reports to maintain consistent communication across teams
What You Bring
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing environment
Familiarity with caustic and sanitation chemical handling, including safe-use protocols
Working knowledge of GMPs, sanitation best practices, and food safety requirements
Ability to clearly communicate expectations and lead a team across various shifts
Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs., climbing ladders, and working in hot, damp, or wet conditions
Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
Results-oriented mindset with creative problem-solving abilities
