Job descriptionProvide academic counseling to current and prospective students. Evaluate transfer transcripts from other academic institutions including foreign issued for equivalencies and application to goal. Monitor academic progress of student; analyze progress reports from instructors; determine eligibility and satisfactory progress toward goal; refer students to appropriate resources for assistance. Actively engage with and build rapport with students creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that promotes student success and well-being. Maintenance of student records coordination preparation and maintenance of credit evaluations. Assist students in establishing realistic and attainable academic and career goals. Recommend students for graduation. Learn and follow district state and federal guidelines for graduation and grants. Identify options for students to satisfy degree requirements; evaluate and make recommendations for student classes and program plan. Facilitate student exploration and preparation for diverse post-secondary pathways including college trade school and direct entry into the workforce. This includes providing resources on career opportunities application processes and financial aid. Work with College and Career Readiness Standards. Other duties as assigned.
Schedule : Monday Thursday 11 : 00 - 8 : 00 p.m. / Friday 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m.
40 hours per week / 46 Weeks
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate. K-12 Counseling Endorsement preferred.
- Knowledge of Michigan Merit Curriculum Graduation requirements.
- Academic advising experience.
- Experience assessing issuing and evaluating secondary credits.
- An interest / experience in working with adult students.
