Position Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Fitness Director is responsible for the operation of the fitness floor, group exercise, and growth of personal training for multiple centers of the association. The role includes direct leadership for fitness floor associates, group exercise instructors, and personal trainers; development of programming that meets the needs of each unique community; and accountability for member engagement and retention initiatives for Group Exercise, Personal Training, and related programming.
Essential Functions
- Oversight of all Fitness Operations – Group Exercise, Water Fitness, and Personal Training
- Oversight of all Scheduling – Utilization of participation data, programming strategies, and client schedules
- Compliance and Quality Control – Certification, CPR / 1st Aid, Standard of Delivery, Timesheet Management, and Performance Management
- Collaboration / Marketing – Executive Director feedback, cross‑department education, and social media management
- General Metrics – Client numbers, participation percentages, class attendance, and Fitquest appointments
- Virtual Platform – Monitoring quality assurance and instructor performance
- Recruiting / Onboarding – New instructor acquisition and guest instruction
- Leadership Competencies – Visionary leadership, building relationships, operations, and people development
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Health & WellbeingNationally recognized Personal Training or Group Exercise CertificationHIPAA certification or completion within 90 daysFive or more years of supervisory, program development, and Personal Training experienceExperience in member service & engagement and quality managementExtensive knowledge of personal training and the fitness industryPhysical, environmental, and mental requirements – Strength, agility, mobility, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform required certificationsAll Y associates agree to abide by the Code of Conduct that ensures a safe and respectful environment for young people, prohibiting abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandating training on child abuse prevention and legal reporting requirements.
