The Human Performance Specialist will assist in delivering comprehensive human performance training, assessments, and evaluations to Basic Agent Trainees (BATs) and Special Agents. This role applies evidence-based techniques in physical training, nutrition, and mental performance while supporting course delivery and data collection to optimize trainee readiness, reduce injury risk, and improve overall performance.
Requirements : Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, delivery, and evaluation of human performance training programs, including physical conditioning, nutrition guidance, and mental performance coaching for trainees and agents.
- Conduct and evaluate physical assessments such as body composition analysis, grip strength tests, leg length measurements, Y-balance, hand tap, knee-to-wall, and single-leg lunge tests to inform individualized performance recommendations.
- Support curriculum delivery aligned with adult learning principles, ensuring engagement, comprehension, and practical application of training content.
- Evaluate and provide recommendations to improve physical training courses based on participant performance data and best practices in exercise science.
- Operate and administer digital learning and performance tracking tools, including mobile applications, to capture physical and mental performance metrics.
- Administer surveys and other assessment tools to evaluate health, nutrition, stress, sleep hygiene, and overall quality of life for trainees.
- Maintain professional networks and access to resources across physical fitness and law enforcement communities to enhance the relevance and practical value of training.
- Collaborate effectively with the Coordinator, staff, and other Phronetik personnel in fast-paced, high-stakes training environments.
- Perform other responsibilities as required to support the successful execution of the Human Performance Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, or a closely related field.Certification : Current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).Experience : Minimum of two (2) years in physical training, exercise prescription, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, motor skill development, fitness assessment, nutrition, cardiovascular health, behavior change, and risk management.Experience applying adult learning principles to support the delivery of established health and fitness courses, ideally for law enforcement or tactical populations.Knowledge of instructional techniques and communication strategies to encourage participation and a positive learning environment.Functional knowledge to operate digital tools, mobile applications, and platforms for delivering and tracking performance across all human performance pillars.Demonstrated ability to assess and interpret physical performance metrics, body composition, and other validated indicators of trainee readiness and injury risk.Ability to operate independently or collaboratively in a high-paced environment.Licensure : Valid state driver’s license meeting REAL ID requirements or a valid U.S. passport for domestic travel.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with military, law enforcement, or tactical athlete populations.Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field.Additional certifications (e.g., CSCSD, TSAC-F, NASM-PES, Precision Nutrition) are desirable.Familiarity with DEA or federal law enforcement training environments.Core Competencies

Occasional travel to sites or other domestic field locations to support program delivery, assessments, and training events.
Work Environment :
Work primarily based in Quantico, VA, with flexibility to operate at other sites as needed.Position includes a mix of remote and on-site work, incorporating virtual meetings, presentations, and practical training sessionsPhysical Demands :
Ability to participate in extended virtual meetings, presentations, and workshops.Capable of performing and demonstrating physical assessments and training activities as required for DEA Human Performance Program.Occasional on-site participation in training sessions and practical performance evaluations may require standing, walking, and moderate physical exertion.Equal Opportunity Employer
