Qualifications

Qualifications vary based on Counselor level :

Counselor I : High school diploma or equivalency, enrolled in a state-recognized chemical dependency counselor program or progressing towards AOD, with six months' substance abuse experience, or Bachelor's degree with registration with a credentialing body (e.g., CCAPP, CADTP).

Counselor II : High school diploma or equivalency, current certification from a credentialing body (e.g., CCAPP, CADTP), two years supervised experience in substance abuse or related field.

Additional requirements include a valid California driver's license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on BHS business. Must have adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and ability to perform job duties physically and desk work.
