Position Summary

The Surgical Oncologist provides specialized surgical care for patients with benign and malignant tumors. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and surgically managing oncology patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. The Surgical Oncologist is also responsible for advancing clinical excellence, mentoring residents / fellows, and supporting institutional initiatives in cancer treatment and research.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex surgical procedures to diagnose, stage, and treat cancers and related conditions.
• Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists in developing individualized treatment plans.
• Evaluate patients through history-taking, physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and imaging.
• Provide perioperative and postoperative care to optimize patient recovery and outcomes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.
• Supervise and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Engage in clinical research, scholarly activity, or quality initiatives to advance surgical oncology practice.
• Uphold the highest standards of patient safety, ethics, and professionalism.
