Reports to : Director, R&D

Flex\nWork Eligible! This\nposition qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 75 work days\nannually to work home! The initial amount of days is prorated for the first\nyear based on start date.

\nGENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE : \n

The R&D Technical Manager is responsible for project management of R&D projects, technical development , documentation , and implementing quality assurance programs for customer compliance. The individual will be responsible for all daily activities of R&D projects through commercialization. This will be an external customer-facing role. The individual should have a strong background in global railway systems.

\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : \nProject Management\n \n

  • Creation of project goals & setting relevant KPI’s in accordance with project parameters

\n

  • Supervise human and material resources associated with R&D projects, coordinate tasks & efforts of multiple departments including operations, engineering, and data analytics, product development, marketing, and sales
  • \n

  • Recommend resource assignments in support of technology and development initiatives
  • \n \nTechnical Development\n \n

  • Advise on solutions to complex technical problems or issues arising during product development, participate in product development opportunities, and contribute to technology initiatives
  • \n

  • Formulate and direct the development of processes in support of product needs
  • \n

  • Provide scientific and business input to executives and project leaders
  • \n \nDocumentation\n \n

  • Responsible for written, photographic, and video documentation of project development and field testing
  • \n

  • Prepare reports and present to key external and internal stakeholders
  • \n

  • Assist with operational, training, and troubleshooting manuals based on accumulated information
  • \n \nQuality Assurance & Compliance with Customer Needs\n \n

  • Ensure customer deliverables meet needs and expectations while adhering to industry quality and safety standards
  • \n

  • Organize quality assurance standards and company processes
  • \n

  • Create quality metrics to track product improvement, operator performance, and customer compliance
  • \n

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : \n Education : BS in Engineering Discipline, Project Management, Business Development, or related degree\n

    Experience : 7+ years of project leadership experience in global railway systems

  • 10+\nyears combination of education and experience in research and development,\nglobal railway systems, or advance technical roles
  • \n

    Licenses / Certifications :   Obtain and maintain Railroad Certifications

    \n

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :  Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and leadership skills

    \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : \n

    Education : MS Engineering Discipline, Project Management, Business Development, or related degree

    \n

    Licenses / Certifications :   Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE)

  • 25% or more travel including domestic and international, using any method of transportation. Expectations are to travel as required by job to interface with business units and align with business needs.

    Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and / or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.

    Starting pay for the position is between $101,100.00 - $126,450.00.
