Position Summary
Posting Note : Experience with the Osteogenesis Imperfecta population is highly preferred. The Pediatric Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides care to children with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) and other metabolic bone diseases. This position will staff outpatient clinics as well as assist the orthopaedic surgeons in the operating room and be a sub-investigator for clinical research trials. The APP works closely with our pediatric orthopaedic surgery fellow and orthopaedic residents on their pediatric orthopaedic surgery rotation. The APP will be expected to round daily with the attending, fellow, and residents, implement the plan for the day and follow up on patient response, enter orders, be the primary contact for nursing and family questions, assist with care coordination, writing notes as needed, and facilitating discharges. The APP assists with new pediatric orthopaedic consults as needed based on resident availability. The APP works Monday thru Friday during traditional business hours. They are rarely responsible for afterhours call. The ideal candidate will be a physician assistant who has experience in pediatrics, orthopaedic surgery, or pediatric orthopaedic surgery. Prior surgical experience is preferred in this role. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, flexible, ready to accept responsibilities, has good communication and interpersonal skills, and interested in working collaboratively with our growing Pediatric Orthopedic Team.
This position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and works within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients. Plays a critical role in the patient family medical team. Professional who may practice in hospital's inpatient and / or outpatient setting.
