Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB(s). Work closely with Market Management, Claims, and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross‑selling.
- Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom‑line targets. Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers and proactively manage capacity.
- Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios. Underwrite International Insurance Programs where relevant.
- Represent AzC externally to the market and proactively drive involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting process, including MMC, ARC, Claims, and Operations.
- Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued and maintained. Support completion of policy administration and credit control processes.
- Support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including client and producer negotiations. Liaise with MMC on market management initiatives.
- Participate and contribute to key projects. Train and develop underwriters in the LoB, serving as a referral point for other underwriters and participating in cross‑regional activities.
Qualifications
A minimum of 7 years’ proven track record in underwriting profitable inland marine business with in‑depth understanding of its products and portfolio.Proven knowledge of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape with established broker relationships.Experience as an underwriter or account executive with multiple inland marine products such as construction, transportation, miscellaneous coverages, and property.Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics and completion of a professional insurance qualification preferred.Strong analytical skills to assess risk exposures, natural hazards, and portfolio performance against benchmarks.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to persuade and motivate others.Proficiency in general office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and willingness to utilize AI tools to enhance efficiency.Compensation & Benefits
The annualized base pay range for this role is $125,366 to $276,845. The base pay is one component of the AzC total compensation package, which also includes annual performance‑based cash incentive awards and a comprehensive benefits program.
