Interventional Cardiology Opportunity in the Beautiful Mountains of Western North Carolina

Are you a board-certified interventional cardiologist with a few years under your belt?  Would you like to get out of the big city but still practice state-of-the-art interventional in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina?  Them come join us at UNC affiliated Pardee Hospital here in Hendersonville, NC.

Our STEMI program opened in 2021.  Since then, we have experienced tremendous growth in cardiac cath and interventional volume, noninvasive testing, and our outpatient practice volume.  New patient referrals have grown over 300% in the past 2 years.  In calendar year 2024 we performed over 2000 diagnostic cath procedures and 300 PCI in a single state-of-the-art GE lab.  While we do not have on-site surgery, we have many of the conventional techniques you would find at larger institutions including OCT / IVUS, physiologic assessment with microvascular testing, Shockwave, and Impella.  The hospital has space to add another diagnostic / interventional coronary and peripheral lab as well as space for planned EP and hybrid labs.  Plans are to add an additional cath lab to serve the community needs and increasing demands.

We have three interventional cardiologists on staff, one of whom plans to transition to part-time in the fall of 2025.  We are looking for a third full-time BC IC with several years of experience in coronary and peripheral procedures to complete our team.  The new partner will be expected to participate in 1 in 3 STEMI call, cover hospital rounds / consultations and outpatient office time.  Permanent pacemaker procedures are an option.

The IC partner would practice at our main campus of Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville and not be expected to travel to either of our satellite offices in Brevard or Arden.  We have a total of 3 noninvasive partners and are recruiting for more.  One partner is located at the Hendersonville office where we also have a dedicated APP focusing on heart failure and devices.  Our 2 other noninvasive partners rotate between the Brevard and Arden offices.  In the hospital we have a dedicated APP who manages our cardiology inpatient service.

Our practice also includes two vascular surgeons who perform endovascular procedures in a dedicated lab which we hope to move to our IC suite in the near future.  One of them plans to retire this year leaving us with an opportunity to fill the gap with our IC partners who are appropriately credentialed.

Currently open heart procedures are performed at our tertiary referral centers in Asheville, Greenville, SC and Spartanburg, SC.  We also have excellent relationships with our EP partners at these institutions.

Hendersonville is in a rapidly growing area of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.  We have great amenities including some of the best fly fishing in the country, world class outdoor activities with easy access to the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway, family friendly neighborhoods and great restaurants.  All the amenities of Asheville are just a short drive away.
