Energy Efficiency Manager
Work location is open to South Dakota and Montana office locations (Butte, Montana is preferred, could also be Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena or Missoula).
Qualifications include :
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field required
- Master's degree in a related field of study is preferred
- Preferred 5 years of progressively responsible experience in energy efficiency, demand side management, utility program management, or a related sector
- Preferred 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience with demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams
- Comprehensive knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, DSM strategies, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Experience with utility regulatory proceedings, program filings, and compliance a plus
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities with proven experience in data-driven program management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities concurrently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant program management software; experience with data analysis tools preferred
- Valid Drivers License and ability to travel as needed
- Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
- Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus
Duties include :
Develop and implement comprehensive energy efficiency, demand side management and low income programs in alignment with NorthWestern Energy's corporate strategy, regulatory mandates, and customer needsLead, mentor, and supervise a team of program coordinators, engineers / analysts, and support staff to achieve program goalsOversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EE / DSM initiatives, including but not limited to customer rebates, incentive programs, educational outreach, and technology integrationManage NorthWestern Energy's Universal System Benefits (USB) program to ensure compliance and funding for energy conservation and low-income energy assistanceCollaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless program delivery and alignment with broader company objectivesDirect the preparation and presentation of comprehensive program plans, progress reports, and regulatory filings to internal leadership, public utility commissions, and external stakeholdersEngage with key stakeholders including regulatory bodies, community partners, industry groups, and customers to promote NorthWestern Energy's EE / DSM / USB programs and foster collaborative relationshipsManage annual and multi-year program budgets; ensure cost-effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements and program guidelinesMonitor, analyze, and report on program participation, energy savings, customer satisfaction, and key performance indicators; identify opportunities for improvement and innovationStay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments impacting EE / DSM / USB programs; recommend and implement best practicesEnsure that all program activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocolsLead the development and delivery of employee and customer training on energy efficiency and demand management topicsRepresent NorthWestern Energy at industry conferences, public meetings, and community events as subject matter expert for EE / DSM servicesAll NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & EthicsEnsure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectivesTravel up to 25%, including overnight travel is requiredFull-time position. $102,200 to $167,500 per year, depending on experience.
