Manufacturing Process Engineer

What if you had an opportunity to work in a company that challenged you to utilize your engineering expertise in the broadest sense possible?  What if you could work in a company that asked you to be fueled by your curiosity instead of being limited to your job description?  What if you could join a collaborative effort where the indicator of success was your ability to develop an open mind?

With a 50-year track record of profitability, this company has created such a unique ethos that normal business language is inadequate to describe their organization.  The company is based on collaborative teams that are organized around customers.  With a flat, value-stream-aligned organization there are no functional silos anywhere in the organization to slow down the continuous improvement of value and velocity to the customer.  Given the degree to which they have empowered team members, saying they are simply “doing lean” is an entirely insufficient description of their culture.

Responsibilities include :

  • A leader to teach as well as learn the best practices in process improvement and customer satisfaction
  • Support team members ability to think logically, applying problem solving tools and techniques with a daily focus to improving processes, procedures and interactions
  • Apply application, process, new product introduction, design, customer and quality engineering problem solving as part of value stream teams
  • Interface with the customer to provide technical solutions
  • Actively listening, constantly learning, embracing challenges by being part of the value streams, filling the engineering gaps as they arise
  • The needed attributes and experiences :

  • A strong level of technical acumen – BS, MS Engineering Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering with documented experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Lean manufacturing experience required, along with a curiosity to apply collaborative philosophies across the organization
  • Significant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with a broad array of engineering tools and capabilities
  • An innate curiosity, a creative problem solver, obsessed with building and fixing stuff, comfortable in an “out of the box” role
  • The desire to work collaboratively, a pattern of teaching and learning
  • Task oriented, hands-on approach, developing high-quality, factual based, precise solutions to technical manufacturing issues and problems
  • Systematic thinking with a proven ability to both design and implement effective systems and processes
  • Computer savvy, Excel and other database skills
  • Activities :

  • Process design in a Value-added Assembly Operation (stripping, crimping, over-molding, soldering, testing…).
  • Process Engineering support of quality assurance.
  • A3 problem solving process leadership.
  • Creation and maintenance of engineering documentation.
  • General support of factory operations as a member of our support team.
  • Trouble shooting equipment & material issues.
  • Process engineering support for our Materials Review Board (MRB).
  • Support (leadership) of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Process design support for New Product Development projects.
