Hours: This is a 0.8 FTE / 32 hrs. weekly day shift position.
Compensation Information: The pay range for this position is $18.65/hour - $27.98/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
- The Health Unit Coordinator manages the communication center of the inpatient nursing units, communicating courteously, effectively, and efficiently with all customers.
- Completes clinical information system and patient record responsibilities including admission, discharge, and transfers, patient registration, obtaining and updating insurance information; ensures that records are complete and accurate to allow for patient billing.
- Ensures nursing staff is aware of patient needs communicated to the HUC through the nurse call system.
- Notifies appropriate staff during emergency situations, acute admissions, and discharges.
- Provides assistance as needed to the nursing staff.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
Preferred:
- Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) certification
- Experience in a healthcare setting and medical terminology
- Previous HUC experience
