Delivery Driver
To drive trucks and vans to deliver a variety of items such as supplies and equipment, interoffice mail and foods and food-warming cabinets to the District and other locations; and to perform various warehouse-related functions such as receiving, storing, order processing, taking inventory, delivery truck routing, performing activities related to equipment / materials salvage and assisting in central mailroom.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Operates District vehicles to pick up, deliver and unload mail, supplies, equipment and food supplies for District schools and offices and contracted sites according to established schedules.
- Organizes and packs trucks with loads.
- Delivers prepared meals and food supplies from the Child Nutrition Center to District and contract sites.
- Picks up and returns excess and salvage materials.
- Responds to questions and issues at delivery sites regarding the delivery or non-delivery of supplies.
- Collects and transports money from schools and deposits money according to established procedures.
- Delivers inter-department and other mail, films, and audio-visual equipment to District and city sites.
- Assists central mailroom staff in various operations.
- Operates a variety of equipment including delivery trucks with tailgate lifts, vans, forklift, banding machine, pallet jack, hand truck and hand and power tools.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles and reports problems.
- Maintains records related to the receipt and delivery of materials and money and vehicle maintenance records.
- Pulls and fills orders for food and other supplies.
- Stacks warehouse pallets for removal.
- Receives, unloads, inspects, and stores warehouse and food services stock, supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
- Inspects shipments for damage, accuracy, and compliance with purchase order specifications and packing slips and reports to supervisor.
- Repacks and ships overages, damaged and non-compliant goods to appropriate vendor.
- Maintains accurate records including materials received in the warehouse, shipment discrepancies, non-compliant shipments received, returned materials and inventory control information.
- Processes and fills warehouse requisitions.
- Boxes, packs, and prepares materials for loading and delivery.
- Stocks front-end shelves with appropriate supplies.
- Plans, organizes, secures, tags, and identifies the storage of surplus and salvageable equipment and materials.
- Enters data into computer and maintains records of assigned warehouse duties.
- Performs periodic warehouse inventories.
- Assists in the layout, rotation, and movement of stores; shelves, arranges and labels stock.
- Responds to questions and issues from schools and the District office relating to supplies, materials, and warehouse operations.
- Maintains warehouse in a clean and orderly condition.
- Performs job related duties as assigned.
Experience, education, and training : One year of paid experience receiving, storing, ordering, processing, shipping, delivery driving, or delivery vehicle routing in a commercial warehouse -AND- High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses / Certificates / Registrations (At time of appointment and during employment) : An appropriate, valid California driver's license. Must qualify for Forklift Operator's Certificate at district expense during first three months of employment.
