Qualifications Required : Master's degree in education, counseling or related field from a regionally-accredited institution of higher learning with prior experience in housing and residence life. Good communication, organizational and customer service skills.
Qualifications Preferred : Master's degree in education, counseling or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning with prior experience as a supervisor in a residence hall at a college or university. Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills. Prior experience and knowledge of BANNER, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
Job Description
General Statement Of Function :
Oversees and manages the College's housing and residence life programs, including residence hall operations, staff development, room assignments, facilities and student support services. Ensures a safe, engaging and well-managed living environment while coordinating with stakeholders and maintaining compliance with College policies.
Duties And Responsibilities :
- Coordinates the facilitation and management of all room assignment-related tasks, including assignments for new and returning students, mid-year room change requests and effective communication to internal stakeholders regarding room assignments on campus.
- Performs leadership development by working with hall directors in the selection, training and evaluation of all resident assistants. This includes leading resident assistant training and programming.
- Manages the general operation of the college's housing programs - plans, implements, administers and evaluates all functions of the housing department, including all residence hall directors.
- Works with the Physical Plant to recommend and purchase furniture and equipment for all residence halls as needed.
- Communicates effectively with all stakeholders regarding housing functions, including move-in, orientation, planning, etc.
- Based on the college academic calendar, recommends dates for the residence halls to open and close.
- Coordinates all facility and maintenance projects with the Physical Plant.
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to coordinate and approve all housing assignments and dates for overnight camps.
- Periodically assists with room inspections, along with the residence hall directors.
- Conducts hall inspections on a regular basis and makes recommendations for updates / renovations, as needed.
- Plans and conducts staff meetings with all housing employees on a regular basis.
- Prepares an annual budget and keeps expenditures within that budget.
- Prepares and presents Housing and Residence Life presentations during summer orientation to parents and students.
- Maintains appropriate student records regarding room assignments, room changes, student conduct, incident reports, maintenance requests and emergency drills.
- Ensures that all residence hall students remain in a full-time status, counsel and resolve residency questions for those who fall below full time.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator of Mental Health Services to provide counseling services for students, as needed.
- Works closely with the Vice President of Student Services to respond to student concerns and emergency situations.
- Prepares reports as needed for the Vice President of Student Services.
- Serves on committees as determined by the Vice President of Student Services.
- Performs other duties assigned.
