Primary Focus Of Role

The primary focus of the role is to provide guidance and assistance to account teams and clients by using financial decision making tools, conducting client facing meetings when appropriate, to speak effectively on behalf of the Financial Benefits Consulting team regarding core services, and acting as a mentor / coach to others on the team.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include :

  • Analyzing data from carriers on complex clients and providing recommendations to account management teams or to clients in order to effectively negotiate rates and funding levels
  • Evaluating and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual reports that measure client financial status
  • Tracking expenses by product line, renewal projections, funding levels and rates, etc. to the Account management teams and to clients when necessary
  • Evaluating, assigning, monitoring and peer review reports generated by underwriting team subordinates
  • Operating as a consultant to internal staff as well as clients, assisting clients with a range of complex issues and needs
  • Providing underwriting analysis services to internal staff and to clients according to their needs and strategic interests, assisting in retaining clients
  • Assisting in the sales process through production of financial projections on large accounts and related underwriting analysis
  • Overseeing coordination of and help conduct underwriting team training programs for staff / clients
  • Serving as a resource to branch office staff in order to contribute toward measurable ROI of services and retention of clients
  • Applying advanced skills in order to provide and present monthly, quarterly and annual reports that measure client financial status, track expenses by product line, renewal projections, funding levels and rates, etc.
  • Being able to speak with Account management team and clients about abnormal conditions that arise from the evaluation of these reports
  • Preparing, analyzing and consulting on various client deliverables, as defined by the scope of services of the Financial Benefits Consulting team
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations, campaigns, communication materials, newsletters, etc. to internal staff and clients / prospects regarding Underwriting policies and scope of services
  • Overseeing communication from Analyst positions regarding processes and data needed in order to effectively analyze client financial status
  • Having ability to peer review and make suggestions for materials and notices shared across the region and / or divisional Financial Benefits Consulting team

About You

Required : Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience with Broker or Carrier side with focus on Health and Benefits. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office. High degree of understanding of employee benefits funding mechanisms. Must be familiar with carrier reporting systems.

Preferred : 8+ years of relevant experience Microsoft Excel expertise. Effective negotiation skills.

Must maintain favorable relationships with clients, vendors and other office staff. Ability to prioritize and effectively communicate to manage expectations Must show demonstrated ability to lead / manage others which includes effective delegation Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external partners by demonstrating customer focus and work ethic, thereby establishing an environment of trust and reliability Solutions focused approach for addressing and resolving internal and external challenges
