Reporting to the Director of Language Culture and Equity the Multilingual Learner Teachers role is to provide direct instruction to students who meet the criteria of the Multilingual Language Learner Program. This involves services for students in grades 9 through 12. The ML teacher will work in content areas (English Mathematics Science and / or Social Studies) and in career areas when needed. Specific assignments may change to match the needs of the students.

Provide information to GLTS staff regarding :
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervises the classroom students teaching assistants and parent volunteers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Masters Degree preferred; Bachelors Degree in the area of major study is required with a minimum of five years teaching experience preferably in a vocational high school setting; or any combination of education and work experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES :
Valid Massachusetts Teaching Certificate from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in English as a Second Language.
ABILITY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers and parents; ability to work effectively with all staff at all levels of the school district; skills in oral and written communication is required.
