Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 16 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg, Telemetry, and PCU Float Pool position requiring ACLS and BLS certifications and night shift availability. Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital environment with assignments in Med / Surg, Telemetry, PCU, and inpatient holding in the ED across two campuses Patient population includes geriatric, orthopedic, and post-cardiac procedure patients such as post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op day 3-4 Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4 in PCU and 1 : 5-6 in Med / Surg Telemetry Shifts are 12 hours, night shift, with every other weekend and holiday coverage required including Christmas First to float among staff and must be flexible to float between campuses as needed with notification 2 hours before the shift Units utilize Cerner EMR; experience is preferred Navy scrubs are required per dress code starting in October CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow equipment used in relevant units Must be comfortable caring for a wide variety of patients and adjusting to different unit protocols Assignments are coordinated by a staffing office, and schedule is set by the float pool scheduler with publication 4 weeks at a time Holiday, weekend, and block scheduling are managed in line with perm staff rotations Orientation consists of a general hospital orientation and unit-specific shifts at each campus Travelers are expected to function independently, with nurse aides supporting in all settings and charge nurses present but not taking assignments All RNs must pass sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes during orientation Failure to pass required tests after two attempts results in ineligibility for future positions for six months Two professional references required, including one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months Requirements Active RN license, Compact or AZ state, must be in hand Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Minimum of 2 years total RN experience and at least 1 year in a PCU setting required Comfort and experience with titrating drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of at least 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Candidates may not have held any position (full time, part time, PRN) with affiliated health systems within the last year Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-588572.
