Position Summary Personal Trainer Coordinator (Graduate Assistant) is responsible for assisting in the development, direction, and evaluation of a comprehensive personal training program. Coordinates and delivers personal training services to various UIW students, faculty, staff and community members. Conducts orientations to the gym, introductions to fitness and plans, basic fitness assessments and screenings. This position reports to the Director of Sports and Wellness.
This is a student position open to current UIW graduate students. Essential Functions Essential functions include :
- Perform personal training and small group training sessions with clientele.
- Coordination of personal trainer staff in-services and continuing education opportunities (e.g. meetings, workshops, clinics and conferences).
- Assist in the hiring, training and supervision of additional personal training student staff.
- Aid in assigning personal trainers to clientele, and daily management of personal and small group training client database and trainer / client files.
- Help with the development and implementation of new programs for the personal and small group training program.
- Manages, organizes, and maintains the assigned athletic facilities, equipment, supplies, and inventory.
- Assists organizational leadership in purchasing and tracking inventory of university property.
- Serves on departmental, university, and / or national committees.
- Understands and represents the mission and vision of UIW and UIW Sports and Wellness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.Ability to work flexible hours based on need of clients.Experience working with college students and programs in recreational sports setting.Personal training experience and / or weight room / strength conditioning room supervisory experience.Ability to prepare reports, statistical reports, inventory control reports and budget management reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required Education Current UIW graduate student Required Work Experience None. Preferred Qualifications Two (2) or more years’ experience teaching in their specialty / certification in an exercise environment. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must hold at least one current certification from a nationally accredited certification organization, such as NSCA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACE-CPT, NASM-CPT, ACSM-CPTCPR and AED CertificationWork Hours
15 hours per week required;Practices and games / tournaments are on nights and weekendsPhysical Demands -Ability to lift 30 pounds
