Job description

About the Role

As a CBRE Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing consulting services to an assigned market or high-profile client accounts to help achieve the company's strategic business objectives. This position will require travel to construction or operational sites as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all areas of project management for multiple real estate projects. This includes planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.
  • Work directly with clients to prepare all elements of the project. This includes the scope of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimates & budget, work plan schedule & milestones, quality control, and risk identification.
  • Review and assist technical development of mechanical systems (both airside & waterside) for hyperscale data centers including campus planning, general layout / arrangements, CFD & noise modeling, climate data evaluations, hydraulic analyses, pipe sizing, bin hour analyses, etc.
  • Oversee, A / E design consultants and provide direction or amplifications in accordance with established engineering standards.
  • Peer review consultants' deliverables including drawing sets, specifications, sequence of operations, calculations, models, etc. and provide comments & resolutions.
  • Define the project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists or through the project qualification process. Conduct complex requests for proposals, complete bid evaluations, and recommend resources to clients.
  • Facilitate the development of a charter and integrated timeline.
  • Analyze for redundancies, failure modes, and Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) while working with RAM modelers to verify conformance.
  • Ensure all functions remain on schedule and issues get resolved or escalated.
  • Facilitate regular meetings to review project status for active and pending projects.
  • Collaborate to develop solutions and guide the project team through implementation and completion.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams. Work is guided by functional policies which impact the design of procedures and policies.
  • Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and / or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals.
  • Communicate difficult and complex ideas with the ability to influence.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-10 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. At least 2 years of experience in data center construction is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with cross-disciplinary teams including structural, civil, IT / Telecomm, security, mechanical, electrical, and architectural.
  • Solid understanding of large-scale, data center mechanical infrastructure, including cooling and fire protection.
  • Familiarity with mission critical infrastructure.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Google Office products. Examples include Sheets, Docs, Slides.
  • Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.

    Turner & Townsend carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $145,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $185,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on Turner & Townsend's applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits : 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
