The Position
The mission of every Robertson employee is to execute their responsibilities with the #1 goal of saving and protecting the lives of service members across the globe. The Structures & Dynamics Analysis Engineer provides structures and dynamics guidance during the initial through final design and development of fuel system components and restraint systems; as well as support design verification and qualification activities by performing specialized analysis and by writing clear and concise documentation including test plans, reports, memos, and trip reports.
Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluates the internal loads for the fuel system components and assembliesPerforms the initial and final sizing of fuel system components and assembliesAssists Aviation, Ground, and Fuel Containment Technology Engineers with projects as necessaryAdherence to Export Control and Technology Control Plan (TCP) as applicable to job functionAdherence to Compliance Plan and Employee Policy ManualAdditional duties may be assignedResponsibilities by Seniority
Structures & Dynamics Analysis Engineers II, III, IV and V (in addition to the above) :
Assists with training and on-the-job learning initiatives for less experienced EngineersEffectively and directly communicates with vendors and customersMarginal duties may include :Performs proof of concept experiments to demonstrate ideasProactively seeks guidance and work opportunities to increase skill set and to determine the potential impact of designs and improve understanding of standard operating proceduresStructures & Dynamics Analysis Engineers III, IV and V (in addition to the above) :
Performs continuous improvement of analytical processes / tools to improve accuracy, effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the development effortProvides support in guiding, execution of design changes, and optimization of the fuel system structural components and assemblies responses as requiredWorks with teammates, production staff, and technical staff to ensure proper interpretation and implementation of customer needs into finished productsExecutes preliminary and critical design reviews with teammates to adequately express project requirementsRegularly informs and educates stakeholders on new systems, designs, and methodology to ensure proper understanding and execution of designsDevelops and manages schedules for each projectDesigns products that meet customer requirementsDeveloping specifications based on customer requirementsEnsures technical and schedule requirements are metManages any required test program for the productResponds to internal and external customer questions and requests in a timely fashionMarginal duties may include :Defines and documents structural design requirements for the service life of the company products, by applying company, customer, and regulatory requirements and specificationsStructures & Dynamics Analysis Engineers IV and V (in addition to the above) :
Develops conceptual and / or detailed approaches to structures & dynamics analysis and coordinates technology development to ensure structural integrity of the company productsInvestigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet the projected requirementsCoordinates the development of new processes and methodologiesLeads the design and development of a product as well as the execution throughout the life cycle of the product to include capture, development, test, production, and sustainmentConducts project status meetings and reporting status updates on existing project(s)Defines computing requirements and develops / supports in-house and commercial application software, to enable efficient performance of engineering tasksPlans and leads the research of new technology applications, new product designs and structural life enhancement concepts, to improve the company productsStructures & Dynamics Analysis Engineers V (in addition to the above) :
Develops and implements new analysis approaches to dynamics and structural stability analyses, and pre-testing simulationsSupports proposal development activities by developing technical volume sectionsWorks with customers and regulatory agencies to develop certification standards and define processes that will ensure requirements are metQualifications
Education And Experience
Structures & Dynamics Engineer- I
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Aeronautical) or equivalent experience. Previous internship experience preferred.
Structures & Dynamics Engineer- II
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Aeronautical) and at least 3 years of experience; or Master's Degree in Engineering. Prior engineering experience preferred.
Structures & Dynamics Engineer- III
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Aeronautical) and at least 8 years of experience; or Master's Degree with 5 years in analyst engineer role; or equivalent.
Structures & Dynamics Engineer- IV
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering and at least 13 years of experience; or Master's Degree with 8 years in analyst engineer role; or equivalent.
Structures & Dynamics Engineer- V
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering and at least 20 years of experience; or Master's Degree with 10 years; or PhD with 7 years; or equivalent. Prior engineering experience preferred.
Professional Qualifications
Solid understanding of structures, vibrations, multi-body dynamics, and nonlinear dynamics tools and softwareFamiliar with design of mechanical assembliesSkilled in Finite Element Analysis and other traditional methodsGood understanding of CAD toolsAbility to present information effectivelyProblem-solving, quality focus, and proactive improvement mindsetMS Office Suite proficiencyEnglish communication skillsAbility to interpret various instructionsAdditional seniority-specific qualifications are detailed in the original description and may include coordination, project management, and proposal-related capabilities.
