This position is based in the corporate office located in Roseland, NJ

Compensation is $60-75K with 10% Discretionary Bonus potential

About the Role :

The HR Generalist in the Real Estate and Rental and Leasing industry plays a pivotal role in managing and supporting the full spectrum of human resources functions to ensure a productive and compliant workplace. This position is responsible for implementing HR policies, and facilitating recruitment and onboarding processes tailored to the unique needs of our Class A Property Management Sector. The HR Generalist will collaborate closely with the Director of HR, and other management to align workforce strategies with business objectives, fostering a positive organizational culture. Additionally, this role involves maintaining compliance with labor laws and industry regulations, mitigating risks related to employment practices. Ultimately, the HR Generalist contributes to the overall success of the company by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while supporting employee engagement and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within the real estate, rental, or leasing industry.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Professional HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with talent acquisition and workforce planning in the property management industry.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and benefits administration specific to the rental and leasing business.
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices within the workplace.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding for various roles within the real estate and leasing operations.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, payroll coordination, and maintain accurate HR records in compliance with legal and company standards as directed.
  • Provide guidance and support to management on HR policies, conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations specific to the real estate and rental industry.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and support career growth aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR processes and documentation to maintain data integrity and support internal and external audits.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies that promote a positive workplace culture and employee engagement.
  • Skills :

    The HR Generalist utilizes strong communication and interpersonal skills daily to build trust and rapport with employees and management, facilitating effective conflict resolution and performance discussions. Analytical skills are essential for interpreting HR metrics, ensuring compliance, and conducting audits that support organizational integrity. Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems enables efficient management of employee data, benefits, and compensation processes. Recruitment and talent management skills are applied to attract and retain qualified candidates who align with the company’s culture and business goals. Additionally, knowledge of employment law and industry-specific regulations ensures that all HR practices meet legal standards, minimizing risk and fostering a compliant workplace environment.
