Job Description

Visa U.S.A. Inc., a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to :

• Architect, design, build, develop, test, and / or implement software systems and / or applications.
• Conduct business and technical analysis, code reviews and unit testing, and implement and produce technical documentation of solutions for new development, system enhancements, and production support.
• Design, develop and implement modifications and corrections to existing software, including the development of debugging routines.
• Serve as an integral part of the Data Science product development team, investigate new requirements, and design and refactor existing functionality for performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions. Contribute in the delivery of high quality solutions that conform to requirements and the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.
• Engage in requirements definition and clarification in collaboration with Business to ensure completeness and common understanding; deep understanding of the business needs is important.
• Facilitate design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
• Facilitate code reviews with team members and third-party vendors.
• Review and assess impact of proposed scope changes on assigned deliverables.
• Work with other engineering teams to facilitate a common approach to continuous integration that includes build automation, test automation, and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, and track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved.
• Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.
• Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.

Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Worksite : Austin, TX

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership / site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements : No travel required.

Mental / Physical Requirements : This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY : The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $155,709.00 USD to $223,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity.
