Medical Assistant - Mohs Surgery (Dermatology) | Tampa, FL

Overview

We're hiring a Surgical Medical Assistant to join our outpatient dermatology clinic (Academic Alliance in Dermatology) in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you'll provide hands-on surgical support to our Mohs surgeon and patients during MOHS procedures. This is a full-time, outpatient position with no nights or weekends required.

Must be comfortable traveling to 8 clinic locations throughout the month; North Tampa, South Tampa, Clearwater, Hudson, Valrico (Up to $500 / month in mileage reimbursement)

Monday - Friday (8 : 00 AM - 5 / 5 : 30 PM)

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to exam room and confirm first & last name & DOB.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Organize patient flow.
• Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.
• Prepare Path / lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan.
• Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed.
• Check to-dos / Nurse line.
• Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule.  Keep appropriate records of maintenance.
• Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
• Maintain infection control and make sure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked.
• Ordering, sorting, restocking and inventory of all supplies.
• Document all medical instructions given to patients, thoroughly review wound care with patients when applicable.
• Anesthesia / Inject for procedures.
• Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner.
• Must maintain HIPAA compliance
• Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
