Description :

MacDonald-Bedford LLC is seeking a qualified and experienced Fire Protection Engineer to support a range of federal, institutional, and infrastructure projects . This role focuses on providing expert-level fire protection and life safety engineering services , supporting the design, construction, renovation, and modernization of facilities, including large construction (MILCON or facility development projects) and repair, renovation, and sustainment (SRM or infrastructure improvements).

Requirements :

Key Responsibilities :

• Design and review fire protection systems including fire alarms, sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, and smoke control systems .
• Perform hydraulic calculations , fire modeling , and other specialized engineering analyses to ensure system performance.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and standards , including NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, UL , and local regulations .
• Conduct fire hazard analyses , risk assessments , and fire safety evaluations for buildings and critical infrastructure.
• Prepare technical reports , drawings , and specifications in support of design submissions and permitting packages .
• Provide construction administration services , including submittal reviews , RFI responses , on-site inspections , and system commissioning .
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams , including architects, engineers, contractors, and client stakeholders , on new construction , renovation , and retrofit projects .
• Support code consulting services and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) coordination .
• Remain up to date on emerging technologies , industry trends , and updates to fire protection codes and standards .
• Contribute to the development and enforcement of corporate fire safety policies where applicable.
