Travel Nurse Job Details

Unit : Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Start Date : December 1, 2025

End Date : March 2, 2026

Duration : 13-week contract

Shift : 3x12-hour night shifts (19 : 30 - 08 : 00), every other weekend

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1970-$2110

Patient Ratio : 1 : 2 (1 : 1 for immediate post-op cardiac surgery patients)

Beds : 8-bed CVICU

Floating : May float to Intermediate Care (IMC, 1 : 3 ratio)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in Maryland or compact state (required for Maryland nursing jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU nursing experience

First-time travel nurses accepted with at least 2 years of open heart experience

Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)

Experience with Epic charting system preferred

Ability to float to IMC as needed

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Two professional references (one supervisor / manager and one charge RN)

Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

CVICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries (CABG, valve replacements, STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock, peripheral bypasses, EVAR, VATS)

Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies : IABP, Impella, CRRT, ECMO, FloTrac / Vigileo, ventilators

Assist with procedures : arterial line management, central line care, chest tube insertion / removal, sheath removal

Administer emergency medications, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage sedation and paralytics

Interpret arterial blood gases, dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKGs

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams

Maintain infection prevention protocols and adhere to isolation precautions

Float to IMC as required and provide care within scope of experience
