MENTAL HEALTH TECH - FULL TIME

Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to work in the behavioral healthcare field. The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or a registered nurse. This position is full-time with every other weekend rotation. Our MHTs work 12 hour shifts - 6 : 30am - 7 : 00pm or 6 : 30pm - 7 : 00am.

Job Roles / Responsibilities :

• establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and provides assigned patient care within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.
• Implements interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgement and competency.
• Participates in community meetings, group therapies, educational and social activities.
• Monitors unit milieu and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Modifies milieu according to developmental needs of the patients.
• Responds to patients in crisis and acts according to developmental needs of the patient to ensure patient and unit safety.
• Completes patient rounds timely in accordance with unit requirements and accurately documents patient observations on the Patient Observation Record.
