The Power Electronics Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of advanced power conversion systems for renewable energy and energy storage applications. This includes DC / DC converters, DC / AC inverters, and battery management systems (BMS) used in residential, commercial, and industrial energy storage systems. The engineer will lead schematic design, PCB layout review, prototype testing, and system integration efforts for new product introductions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership & Team Management
- Design and develop power electronic circuits including DC / DC converters, inverters, chargers, and battery management systems (BMS) for Li-ion batteries.
- Lead the schematic capture and PCB layout process, ensuring signal integrity, thermal management, and compliance with safety and EMI / EMC standards.
- Perform simulation and modeling of power stages and control loops using tools such as LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB / Simulink, or equivalent.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and test engineering teams for system-level integration and product validation.
- Develop and implement control algorithms for grid-tied and off-grid inverters (e.g., MPPT, current / voltage control, grid synchronization).
- Support prototype builds, conduct bench and field testing, analyze performance, and implement design improvements.
- Evaluate and qualify semiconductor components (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC / GaN devices, drivers, etc.) for efficiency, reliability, and cost optimization.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and validation reports.
- Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, and IEEE standards relevant to power electronics and grid interconnection.
- Participate in DFMEA, DVT, and EVT / PVT activities for new product development.
- Technical Skills :
- Strong understanding of power converter topologies (buck, boost, flyback, full-bridge, LLC, etc.).
- Proficiency in PCB design tools (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or similar).
- Experience with control of inverters and grid-tied systems (PLL, PWM, MPPT, current control).
- Knowledge of Li-ion battery systems, BMS architecture, and battery protection circuits.
- Proficiency in test automation tools, data acquisition systems, and lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, battery cyclers, load banks).
- Knowledge of control systems, firmware validation, and communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, RS485).
- Familiar with simulation and data analysis tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, or Python.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in both hardware and system-level testing.
- Familiarity with thermal design, magnetics design, and EMI / EMC mitigation.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and electronic loads for test and validation.
- Experience with UL1741, IEEE1547, IEC62109, or similar regulatory standards is a plus.
- Test Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, validation procedures, and test scripts for new product designs (inverters, DC-DC converters, MPPT charge controllers, and ESS).
Define test coverage, performance validation, and compliance requirements (UL, IEC, IEEE, or other standards).Plan end-to-end test activities from prototype evaluation to production validation and field performance verification.Test Execution & Data AnalysisOversee and perform hands-on testing of electrical, thermal, and control performance under various operating conditions.
Ensure accurate data acquisition, logging, and analysis to validate design performance and reliability.Evaluate test results, identify root causes of failures, and recommend design or process improvements.Prepare detailed test reports, presentations, and feedback to cross-functional teams.Lab & Equipment ManagementMaintain and continuously improve the lab's test infrastructure, including test benches, instrumentation, load banks, battery cyclers, and environmental chambers.
Ensure proper calibration, safety compliance, and readiness of test assets.Support implementation of automation frameworks for test efficiency and repeatability.Cross-functional CollaborationWork closely with R&D, firmware, hardware, mechanical, and quality teams during product development and validation stages.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
Experience :
3-8 years of experience in power electronics design and development, preferably in renewable energy, battery energy storage, or industrial power systems.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
Proven experience in testing, validation, or R&D engineering (2+ years preferred).Strong knowledge of measurement techniques, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.Familiarity with industry standards and testing protocols (e.g., IEC, ISO, ASTM, UL depending on field).Hands-on experience with lab equipment, troubleshooting, and experimental design.Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar).Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with SiC / GaN-based power designs.Knowledge of digital control using DSPs, FPGAs, or microcontrollers (e.g., TI C2000).Familiarity with energy storage systems (ESS) or renewable energy inverters.Exposure to model-based design and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.Physical Requirements :
