Job description

About the role

Picture your day beginning with a short safety huddle on the production floor. You set the tone—safety comes first, in every task and decision. You walk the lines, verify controls, and ensure the team is ready for the day’s plan. Quality is non‑negotiable; you’re the person who keeps us audit‑ready for SQF, USDA, FDA, Organic, and customer visits. You meet with the Director of Manufacturing to align on the weekly operating strategy, identify gaps in line performance, and prioritize focused actions to close them.

Mid‑morning, you review cost audits, compare spend to targets, and deploy corrective actions to bring costs back within budget. You sync with peers to keep multi‑shift operations aligned, facilitate root‑cause analysis on recurring issues, and assign clear owners and timelines for corrective and preventive actions. When R&D and QA schedule a trial or special run, you coordinate the line setup, ensure data capture, and partner closely with maintenance—logging work requests and verifying completion.

Throughout the day, you check on asset care and preventive maintenance, keep the floor organized, and coach team members—building skills through cross‑training so the line can run with less direct supervision. If an emergency occurs, you assess, stabilize, and escalate to leadership as needed. Before the shift ends, you finalize timecard approvals and PTO requests in our timekeeping system, confirm GMP / Food Safety / Plant Safety compliance, and ensure any safety or quality concerns have been raised and documented.

What you will lead

  • Champion a Safety‑First culture through visible actions that remove risk from operations.
  • Uphold uncompromising Quality Assurance standards; prepare for and participate in SQF / USDA / FDA / Organic / customer audits.

  • Run structured root‑cause analysis on chronic issues; assign and verify corrective actions.
  • Initiate and manage projects that move key company metrics.
  • Ensure assets are maintained, managed, and available for production.
  • Lead during facility incidents : assess, control, and notify leadership appropriately.
  • Grow capability via training, coaching, and cross‑training to strengthen factory performance.
  • Foster a clean, safe, positive workplace and uphold company and site policies while complying with applicable laws.
  • Coordinate trials and special runs with R&D and QA; ensure readiness, execution, and documentation.
  • Partner with Maintenance for setups / repairs; create and track work requests in the maintenance system.
  • Use timekeeping software to approve timecards and PTO promptly.
  • Model GMP, Food Safety, and Plant Safety compliance, encouraging immediate reporting of concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
