Overview
The City of Oxnard’s Cultural and Community Services Department, Library Division, is seeking a Senior Librarian to act as a lead Librarian for the branch libraries with an innovative spirit, a desire to inspire those around them, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of others through learning and discovery.
The Oxnard Public Library’s mission is to enrich the lives of our diverse community of 200,000 residents by providing free and equal access to the resources, services and programs that encourage life-long learning and lead to success. The Library includes the Main Library, the South Oxnard Branch and the Colonia Branch, and has served the community for over 115 years since opening in 1907 in a building funded by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation.

Work Schedule
The normal work week is Monday through Thursday and every other Saturday and Sunday as assigned. Hours may include some evenings and / or nights. Depending on the work assignment staff may be assigned to shifts outside the standard City work hours. This position may be required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs and perform on-call duties. This position is governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay. This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department.

Note : For most positions, the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all positions.
City staff may be required to play an active role in the event of an emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours.
This position requires a twelve (12) month probationary period.
Employees are required to participate in the City's direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 3100, all public Employees are required to serve as disaster service workers subject to such disaster service activities as may be assigned to them.
