Job Title : Environmental Specialist - Wastewater Treatment Focus

Reports To : Environmental, Health, & Safety Manager

Status : Exempt / Salaried

Supervises : None

General Description : The Environmental Specialist role is responsible for overseeing the operational performance and regulatory compliance of two wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processes. Although this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, it involves coordinating with on-site operators, maintenance teams, and contractors to support consistent plant performance and compliance across both locations.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Operational Oversight :

• Provide support to Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.
• Oversee daily operations at two wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring they meet regulatory and performance standards.
• Monitor treatment processes, evaluate system performance, and troubleshoot operational issues including equipment malfunctions and process imbalances.
• Work cohesively with plant operators and maintenance staff
• Maintain detailed and accurate operational records, including flow data, chemical usage, and effluent quality.
• Prepare performance and compliance reports for internal use and submission to regulatory agencies including but no limited to : Solid and Hazardous Waste management and disposal, Clean Air Act compliance, Clean Water Act compliance, Emergency Response, Pollution Prevention Planning and Control.
