Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and polished Maître D’ to join our esteemed team within a distinguished hotel dining environment. As the first and final impression of our restaurant, the Maître D’ is entrusted with orchestrating a refined, welcoming, and seamless guest experience from arrival to departure.
This role requires a confident presence on the dining floor, a deep understanding of luxury service standards— including Forbes Five-Star protocols —and the ability to manage both guest relations and internal team communication with grace and precision. The ideal candidate brings exceptional interpersonal skills, fluency in Spanish and English, and a passion for delivering intuitive, anticipatory service in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Extend a warm, professional welcome to all guests, reflecting the tone and identity of the property.
- Lead the flow of service throughout the dining room, managing seating with both strategy and elegance.
- Maintain complete command of the reservation system, optimizing table turns while ensuring a relaxed guest experience.
- Answer and manage all incoming calls with courtesy, efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift briefings, communicating service goals, menu changes, and guest notes to the team.
- Support floor operations, including taking food and beverage orders, offering Gueridon service, and personally attending to VIP tables.
- Collaborate closely with the kitchen, bar, and service teams to ensure smooth execution and an elevated ambiance.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints with composure and diplomacy, ensuring total satisfaction.
- Maintain an expert-level understanding of menu offerings, wine lists, cocktails, and daily specials—presenting each with confidence and clarity.
- Offer small amenities during wait periods to enhance guest comfort and experience.
- Monitor cleanliness, organization, and mise en place standards throughout all FOH areas.
- Represent the restaurant in catering and private event service as required.
Service Standards & Knowledge
Work within a hotel environmentFluent in Forbes Travel Guide service expectations and execution.Skilled in Gueridon service, with a refined approach to tableside presentation and guest interaction.Mastery of dining room operations including :Seating charts, table assignments, and guest flow.Liquor, wine, and non-alcoholic selections, including correct pairings and glassware.Full menu knowledge : ingredients, preparation methods, timing, presentation, and guest suitability.POS systems and manual service procedures.Full adherence to state and local liquor regulations, including the service of alcohol to minors or intoxicated guests.Qualifications
Required :
Minimum 5 years' experience in an upscale or fine-dining restaurant.Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with a luxury hospitality setting.Outstanding verbal communication and guest engagement skills.Proven ability to lead a team, remain composed under pressure, and maintain attention to detail in a dynamic environment.Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and remain active on the dining floor for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.Comfortable with physical movement throughout restaurant areas, including bending, reaching, and walking on various surfaces.Clear and articulate speech for guest communication and team leadership.This is an opportunity to be part of a team that defines exceptional hospitality.
