Travel Nursing Job Details

Location : Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)

Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Cardiac Stepdown

Assignment Length : 16 weeks (option to extend up to 32 weeks)

Start Date : December 15, 2025

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36

Employment Type : Travel RN job

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas / Christmas Eve, New Year's Day / Eve)

Floating : Required to float to appropriate units as part of the Resource Float team

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2100-$2250

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active NY RN license or proof of application (New York nursing jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in cardiac stepdown or telemetry nursing

At least 1 year of specialty experience in Progressive Care / Stepdown

Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications

NIHSS certification (required prior to start)

Recent EPIC documentation experience (within past 2 years)

Ability to work every other weekend and adapt to unit scheduling

Reliable personal or rental transportation (no public transit available)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute cardiac and progressive care needs

Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, post-cardiac catheterization, and other complex cardiac diagnoses

Administer and titrate cardiac and insulin drips, perform EKGs, start IVs, and manage post-procedure care

Document patient care using EPIC and administer medications via MAK

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory and anesthesia support (available 24 / 7)

Float to other units as needed and participate in the Resource Float team

Maintain compliance with unit protocols, dress code (navy blue or white scrubs), and professional nursing standards

Participate in orientation (1-2 days) and ongoing clinical training
