ABOUT THE ROLE
Family Office Controller needed to manage core financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance, for a family, ensuring accurate records, implementing internal controls, managing cash flow, and coordinating with external advisors (tax, legal, investment) for strategic financial management and long-term wealth preservation. They bridge daily operations with strategic planning, handling everything from accounts payable/receivable to complex investment tracking and tax compliance for multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
· Financial Reporting & Accounting: Oversees general ledger, month/year-end close, financial statements, and reconciliations for the family office and related entities (trusts, LLCs).
· Budgeting & Cash Flow: Manages family budgets, monitors cash flow, and supports financial planning.
· Investment Oversight: Tracks private investments, manages capital calls, reconciles statements, and ensures proper reporting.
· Tax & Compliance: Ensures compliance with IRS/tax laws, coordinates with tax preparers, and anticipates tax planning opportunities.
· Risk Management: Manages insurance policies, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery plans.
· Advisor Coordination: Acts as a liaison with banks, fund managers, attorneys, and wealth managers.
· Internal Controls: Develops and enforces policies and procedures to safeguard assets and data.
· Staff/Project Management: May manage accounting staff or oversee ad-hoc financial projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred). CPA a must.
• 7+ years of multi-entity accounting or finance experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, consolidation, and real estate accounting.
• Experience managing books for multiple companies simultaneously.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or other accounting platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, modeling, financial analysis).
• Experience working with external auditors, CPAs, or tax advisors.
• High integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
