Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Assoc. Dir. Model Based System and Discipline Chief to serve as the technical leader for Model Based Quality across Pratt & Whitney's internal and external operations. This is a highly visible and excellent career opportunity that will provide exposure across quality, engineering, DT and operations organizations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the disciplined health of Model Based Quality, which includes writing and maintaining standard work and improving the technical proficiency of its practitioners. This position draws on the Model Based Quality body of knowledge as the basis for proficiency and works with all Quality sub-disciplines to apply it to PW manufacturing operations including process planning, inspection, Manufacturing Readiness Levels, MRB, etc...

MB-DMI is a company-wide initiative to augment 3D models with formats that enable automated consumption in manufacturing business processes such as : Inspection programming, Tool Design, Work Instruction authoring, First Article Inspection, Process Capability Analysis monitoring & reporting, Physics based modeling, Material Review Board (MRB) for discrepant material. This effort is focused on creating the digital thread that supports efficient automated re-use of data across all these processes for internal and external producers. In addition, the discipline chief will also be responsible for AI models to drive predictive outcome of quality processes.

What You Will Do :

  • Leading organization in ensuring product and process compliance by providing guidance and direction with regards to Model Based Quality and requirements.
  • Provides technical leadership to Quality, Engineering and Operations on MB-DMI and Quality AI.
  • Working closely with PWA broad customer base including Mod Centers, Operations Quality, Supplier Quality and others.
  • Develop standard work for MB-DMI and Quality AI development, deployment and sustainment.
  • Work closely with other Quality discipline chiefs and fellows for integration of Quality initiatives within standard work.
  • Mentoring and training of quality professionals in Model based Systems and Quality AI.
  • Responsibility helping launch Model based quality initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Effectively communicate project status and process improvements to Leadership.
  • Drive products and process improvements to ensure quality goals are met.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead the implementation of new processes / technologies that achieve process, reliability and productivity improvements.
  • Ensure Model Based Definition data elements (geometry, annotations, attributes, product characteristics, presentation states) are created with human and machine-readable compliance and digitally consumed data collection.
  • Create and execute short to medium term MB-DMI and Quality AI project plans providing significant impact to the organizations.

Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years experience (in Manufacturing Engineering, Ops, Project Mgmt, Quality or equivalent), or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience.
  • Experience with creating and editing standard work.
  • Training and mentoring quality professionals to improve proficiency.
  • Proficiency in various Model Based Definition formats such as STEP 242, QIF, JT.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Qualifications We Prefer :

  • CMM programming experience, PLM, CAI, NX, Team Center, SoluminaiBase t, SAP, AI Agents and related systems.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing and quality systems and processes at Pratt & Whitney, and experience with business systems such as SAP, Teamcenter and Solumina is required.
  • This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
