Job Title : Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession : Nursing Specialty : Labor and Delivery Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-Hour Day / Night Rotate Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum of 3 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Gynecological care License : Valid Registered Nurse license Certifications : CPR / BLS, ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have : Experience in L&D, willingness to float to NICU and nursery Description : Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Gynecological care. Stable experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must be willing to float to the newborn nursery and NICU as needed. Candidate should be open to working nights and some day shifts. Care responsibilities include nursing care of the L&D patient during delivery, including high-risk patients. Candidates will also provide postpartum care for mothers and their babies. Gynecological surgical post-operative care is included in the responsibilities. The unit utilizes fetal monitors, suction equipment, oxygen, and vital signs monitors. Documentation is completed via computerized charting systems. The nurse-to-patient ratio for Labor and Delivery is 1 : 1 or 1 : 2. For postpartum care, the ratio is 1 : 3 for mother / baby couplets. For gynecological patients, the ratio may be 1 : 5-6 depending on the combination of patients. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs for nursing care. All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility. Weekends and holidays are required as part of the shift rotation.
