Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Fleet Projects organization provides leadership to deliver solutions to improve project delivery, plant performance, and increase regulatory margin. We are seeking an experienced individual for the Manager / Site Projects-ops support. The primary role of the Manager / Site Projects-ops support position is to manage all operational aspects of the project life cycle including projects initiation, planning, implementation, testing and closure. In addition, this role also supports initiatives and priorities for the site and fleet as a manager. The Manager / Site Projects-Ops Support is a liaison between the Site Projects organization and the operations organization. The position is responsible for continuous identification of plant reliability and project risks, as well as communication of ongoing project actions and activities in the field. The position provides leadership to ensure projects are safely executed on schedule, within authorized cost targets, with consideration of nuclear, personnel, radiological and operational safety. The Manager / Site Projects-Ops Support is required to provide leadership, feedback, and direction to site project leads or site project managers and supporting team members where appropriate. This position is a member of the Site Mid-level Management Team.
Job Requirements :
Education / Experience Preferences :
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline strongly preferred.
Current / previous projects experience is preferred.
Current or previous AP1000 license is required.
Project Management certification (PMP) is a plus.
Background / Experience Requirements :
Minimum of Eight (5) years nuclear power experience in Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, Work Management, or Operations is required.
Minimum of three (2) years in a supervisor / manager position is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Build and sustain relationships across all levels of the organization including executive management and external stakeholders such as the NRC, INPO, etc.
Thorough knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Has a strong background in field implementation standards, work planning, work management, procedure use and adherence and procurement processes.
Has a working knowledge of union craft labor, labor bargaining units, contracts and SNC leased labor policies.
Strong focus on plant risk and elimination / mitigation strategies for field work including challenge meetings and post work critiques.
Develop, support, and lead department / station initiatives.
Participate in the Plant Health Working Group (PHWG), Project Review Committee (PRC), and T-week work management meetings as required.
Interface with multiple departments including Engineering, Vendors, operations, Supply Chain and Financial Services.
Lead, through example, to develop a culture of continuous improvement including owning efforts to attain and practice learnings from fleet and industry.
Participate in appropriate external organizations to obtain personal and professional training and development, as well as identify and implement leading practices within Fleet Projects.
The ability to solve problems and make sound judgments, based on experience and proper risk evaluation tools, to provide timely and appropriate resolutions to issues that might impact personnel safety, plant performance, budget, and project execution.
The ability to communicate issues and drive problem resolution through various levels of management.
Ability to effectively interface, build, and sustain relationships with other departments.
