Job Description : This is a field‑based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. This geography covers Morristown, Princeton, and surrounding areas. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance. The role places the patient at the center of all efforts and operates within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
- Plan pre‑call objectives using SMART criteria and conduct post‑call evaluations to continually improve sales performance. Handle objections and concerns, securing logical calls to action to close sales.
- Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Execute a call plan that meets call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscapes, competitors, and disease states; share market intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to align, anticipate changes, and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiated AbbVie’s value proposition, identify and develop disease‑state experts and speakers / advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business‑related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience required.At least five (5) years of relevant industry experience; three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical / health / science industry preferred. High school diploma / GED required.In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge with a reputation as an expert resource to stakeholders. Strong business acumen, strategic and critical thinking, and proficiency with business tools. Operates effectively in a matrix environment and offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.Proven sales performance record and solid presentation skills. Quickly adapts selling approach to customer style and behavior. Provides impactful ideas for the organization and responds to change.Influences peers and is a respected role model. Builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams. Leads by example and demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching.Documented success in leadership roles with increased responsibility at district, region, or organizational levels. Leverages findings to develop sales strategies.Preferred : Successful sales performance within therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician / account‑based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing.English language proficiency, verbal and written.Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain facility entry. Responsibilities include inspections, background checks, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and licenses per state or city. The applicant is solely responsible for HCIR compliance.Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening.Authority to drive personal or company vehicle or powered material handling equipment.Key Stakeholders
External : Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other stakeholders within the therapeutic brand area.Internal : In‑field team members, sales management (DSM), marketing management, training, customer excellence teams, and brand plan stakeholders.Additional Information
The compensation range described below represents the range of possible base pay that AbbVie will pay for this role at the time of posting, based on the job grade. Actual compensation will depend on geographic location and may be higher or lower.
