Job Title : Environmental / Regulatory Technician I or II
Location : Midland, TX
Schedule : Monday–Friday | 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM | 40 hrs / week
On-Call : Weekend / rotational call-out support required
Position Overview
The Environmental / Regulatory Technician will support ongoing environmental compliance, emissions monitoring, and regulatory reporting activities across upstream oil & gas operations. This role includes conducting OGI (Optical Gas Imaging) leak detection surveys , environmental field inspections, sampling, data collection, and documentation under company SSHE (Safety, Security, Health & Environment) programs. The position works closely with field operations, Construction, Environmental Engineering, and regulatory agencies to ensure adherence to federal, state, and internal compliance standards.
- OGI Certification is required .
- Local candidates only due to on-call rotation .
Key Responsibilities
Perform LDAR / OGI leak detection inspections and document emissions findingsConduct scheduled and unscheduled environmental compliance inspectionsMaintain and troubleshoot environmental monitoring equipment (PID, FID, etc.)Oversee sampling and chain-of-custody integrity for air, water, and waste samplesTrack and report environmental observations, corrective actions, and closure statusInterface with site Construction, Operations, and SSHE leadershipParticipate in spill and emergency response activities, as neededCoordinate with regulatory agency field inspectors, when requiredSupport preparation and submittal of compliance and monitoring documentationFacilitate communication of field environmental conditions to engineering and leadershipAssist Level II duties (if applicable) : environmental studies, data interpretation, and technical reporting supportSkills and Qualifications
Education :
Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred (AS or BS)Equivalent industry experience accepted in lieu of degreeExperience :
Prior environmental compliance or SSHE experience in oil & gas operations requiredOGI (Optical Gas Imaging) certification requiredLDR / LDAR / emissions monitoring experience requiredExperience supporting upstream production facilities strongly preferredTechnical Skills :
Familiarity with environmental monitoring equipment and sampling proceduresCompetent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe proficiency preferredPowered by JazzHR
