Inpatient Medical Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled Inpatient Medical Coder to join our client's team. This role requires at least two years of hands-on inpatient coding experience, ensuring accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG codes for hospital stays. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of inpatient coding guidelines, MS-DRGs, and payer regulations, ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance requirements.

Inpatient Medical Coder Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and MS-DRG codes for inpatient hospital encounters
• Review medical records, discharge summaries, and clinical documentation to validate code selection
• Ensure coding compliance with federal regulations, payer policies, and hospital guidelines
• Collaborate with clinical documentation specialists (CDI), physicians, and revenue cycle teams to ensure documentation supports appropriate code assignment
• Identify and resolve coding-related denials and assist with appeals
• Stay updated on coding changes, compliance requirements, and reimbursement methodologies
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards while managing a high-volume workload
