Job description

The Automation Technician A is an experienced technician with the ability to support the vial department equipment, and employees, in setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated assembly machines, with an emphasis towards process improvements that reduce or eliminate scrap, improve productivity, maintain specified quality standards, and add value to product.

This job description lists major areas of responsibility and additional job activities may be added at any time.

Duties and Responsibilities

Set-up and start-up automated production equipment

Responsible for sustaining quality standards of in-process and fully-assembled products

Maintain order and cleanliness of department

Other duties and projects as determined by business needs and production

Create and maintain Total Productive Maintenance list

Troubleshoot and resolve automated assembly problems

Make professional and lasting modifications and repairs to existing equipment

Communicate pertinent product and quality related information to Operators, Inspectors, Supervisors, and peers, in both written and verbal forms

Create and maintain inventory of spare parts list (Also maintain inventory levels)

Assist in the installation and operation of new equipment

Responsible for training and mentoring other automation technicians to safely and properly operate equipment through a positive and supporting demeanor

New product sampling, as necessary

Perform preventative maintenance according to schedules

Make program adjustments to automated systems as necessary for repairs, improvements, modifications

Perform large scale modifications and repairs to existing equipment

Perform major machine upgrades or enhancements

Education, Skills, and Experience

Knowledge of LOTO practices and proper machine guarding

Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude

Associate's degree in Automation Technician or equivalent completed Apprentice program

Minimum of four (4) years' experience in manufacturing with automation experience

A working knowledge of the proper use of hand tools and basic fabricating machines (Bridgeport, Lathe, CNC Milling equipment) used in the modification and repair of automated equipment

Comprehensive skills in metrology and the use of measuring equipment

Leadership quality communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills required

Prioritization skills essential
