Process Engineering Technician, Cell Manufacturing Engineering

What to Expect Tesla's Cell Manufacturing Engineering Team is looking for a highly motivated Process Engineering Technician to accelerate our next-generation battery cell manufacturing program. This role will support the process development of specialized battery electrode calendaring, lamination, and slitting equipment. In this position, the Process Engineering Technician will work closely with manufacturing engineers to realize high quality, efficient and reliable equipment and processes. This includes process improvement projects, problem-solving to achieve high yield, reduced downtime, and production ramp-up. This is a hands-on position working with equipment and data.

What You'll Do

• Support development and refinement of manufacturing processes and equipment specifications
• Interact daily with manufacturing engineers to communicate results and receive tasks
• Collaborate with OEMs on equipment development projects while participating in problem-solving for calendaring, lamination, and slitting processes and implement changes in production
• Perform equipment checks per SAT protocols and provide input for machine development
• Conduct yield analysis, develop defect paretos, and implement process improvements
• Analyze defect trends and control charts to identify and prevent process excursions
• Assist with manufacturing instruction development while validating processes and equipment to ensure required performance
