Role and Responsibilities
As a C&I Energy Storage Solutions Engineer / Advisor , you will be instrumental in the initial phases of project development. Your responsibilities include :
- Conduct site visits to commercial and industrial facilities and develop preliminary (10%) system designs that are permit-ready and installation-feasible.
- Maintain direct, professional communication with customers and act as the primary point of contact during design and installation.
- Focus on larger scale / medium / high voltage applications and assess existing electrical infrastructure to determine optimal interconnection strategy and potential customer ROI.
- Evaluate site space, structural / grade constraints, and other physical considerations to ensure cost-effective, constructible designs.
- Apply technical expertise in medium / high voltage electrical systems, power distribution, transformer function, hardware selection, and energy consumption analysis to maximize performance and project viability.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth transition from design to implementation and verify installations meet plan and customer expectations, which may require travel to customer locations.
- Regular daytime travel within Utah for site visits and project evaluations; occasional overnight travel in Utah and / or out of state may be required.
Required Experience
Typically requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy, with value placed on diverse learning paths (e.g., Journeyman Lineman).5+ years of experience conducting system design and site evaluations for commercial, industrial, and renewable energy projects, focusing on performance, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance.High Voltage experience is required.In-depth knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems related to Energy Storage, including design of large-scale systems for commercial and industrial applications.Familiarity with NEC and other relevant codes and standards governing renewable energy systems and storage installations.Understanding of renewable energy technologies, including battery storage, grid-tied systems, and emerging trends in the commercial / industrial energy landscape.Ability to analyze energy consumption profiles and utility data to support design decisions and ROI for clients.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to translate technical information for stakeholders at all levels.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail across project phases.Valid drivers license and ability to operate a company vehicle.Preferred Experience
Medium voltage experience (preferred).Experience with design rendering using Aurora (preferred) or similar tools such as Solo.NABCEP Board Certification.Location & Travel
The role is on-site with some remote work. You will work at installation locations throughout Utah and may travel within the United States or remotely from your home office. Some onsite work at our South Salt Lake Headquarters Warehouse and / or Springville R&D warehouse may be required.
