We are seeking motivated individuals pursuing education or careers in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related scientific fields for AET’s Summer 2026 Internship in our Petrography & Chemistry Laboratory located at our St. Paul headquarters. Internship Highlights

Hands-On Laboratory Experience : Gain practical experience working alongside our chemists and materials scientists in an accredited laboratory setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with laboratory testing, sample preparation, and analytical procedures for concrete, soils, aggregates, and other construction materials.Support routine laboratory tasks, including mixing solutions, preparing slides, performing measurements, recording data, and maintaining laboratory equipment.Assist in performing chemistry-based testing such as titrations, chloride analysis, material composition evaluations, and other standardized laboratory tests.Follow laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.Communicate with laboratory staff, engineers, and project managers as needed.Additional miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.Pursuing Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related degree.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory procedures.Ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds.

Pay Transparency

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $20 - $21 per hour. The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a laboratory environment, working with chemical samples, testing equipment, and instrumentation. This role secondarily operates in an office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands or finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50-100 pounds. The employee will occasionally push or pull equipment weighing up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
