Your Role : High School Math Teacher

As a High School Math Teacher , you will play a pivotal role in guiding students to become self-directed learners. You’ll immerse yourself in the joy of mathematics and inspire high school students to embrace the subject with enthusiasm. Your expertise will help students develop critical thinking skills and prepare them for academic autonomy and college-level coursework.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instruction

  • Teach a Math curriculum that includes Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, preparing students for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate-level coursework.
  • Support students in problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Foster confidence and engagement in mathematics through your passion for the subject.
  • Encourage students to construct and justify viable arguments using reasoning and mathematical vocabulary.
  • Create a community of self-guided learners where students feel safe, confident, and engaged.
  • Collaborate with the Math department to set academic and engagement goals.

2. Data Analysis

  • Meet weekly with your principal and / or instructional coach to analyze student work and assessment trends.
  • Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.
  • 3. School Culture

  • Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
  • Partner with families to provide resources that support student learning needs.
  • Engage in professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
  • Participate in weekly school-wide meetings to cultivate community and encourage student achievement.
  • Collaborate with your grade-level team to develop academic goals and instructional strategies.
  • Qualifications

  • A commitment to supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • A collaborative spirit, eager to work with internal and external partners for the benefit of students.
  • A self-directed learner who actively seeks and implements feedback for improvement.
  • Required Experience :
  • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools is preferred.

  • Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Certification is not necessary to start, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements.

    Compensation

    The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 , determined by factors such as relevant teaching experience and education certifications. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $50,000.
