The TTUHSC Department of Internal Medicine in Amarillo is dedicated to patient care, teaching at the resident and medical student levels and research. Established in the mid-1970's as a regional campus of the flagship Texas Tech University in Lubbock, with a goal of training physicians for the underserved West Texas and Panhandle region, TTUHSC is now a separate university in the Texas Tech University System. The

The Internal Medicine department includes clinical and didactic teaching, working at both public and private institutions and includes patients across the entire socioeconomic spectrum. Direct the treatment of internal disorders.

Analyze records, reports, test results, and examination information to diagnose the patient's medical condition.

Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care, including diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases.

Monitor patients' conditions and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.

Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.

Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.

Prepare and deliver lectures and presentations on internal medicine to medical students and residents regarding training in various clinical settings, such as hospitals and outpatient clinics.
