Senior Machining Engineer
Location : Grand Rapids or Marshall, M

Employment Group is seeking a skilled Senior Machining Engineer to design, optimize, and support high-precision manufacturing operations. What You’ll Do :
- Provide technical support for capital equipment needs evaluation.
- Share current manufacturing techniques to enhance product line efficiencies.
- Design and optimize tooling layouts for machining processes, supporting advanced CNC and grinding operations.
- Develop and maintain accurate process documentation and work instructions.
- Demonstrate and coach problem-solving skills, leveraging best practices.
- Utilize corporate software systems (e.g., MFGPro) to create and update cost standards.
- Quote new parts accurately and update current quotes for customer parts.
- Design manufacturing processes and tools for existing parts and new project start-ups.
- Operate and set up CNC lathes, screw machines, and centerless grinders including advanced grinding techniques.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and lead relevant team meetings.
- Manage procurement and expedite tooling and materials to ensure successful project start-ups.
- Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) teams using project launch guides.
- Create clear, concise technical sketches and interpret technical drawings and GD&T standards.
- Train operators on machine operations, document interpretation, SPC, and process improvements.
- Adhere to Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) standards.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical training with 5+ years of related experience, OR 15+ years of equivalent machining engineering experience.Proven expertise with CNC lathes, cam-operated screw machines, and centerless grinding equipment.Hands-on experience with infeed centerless grinders and between-centers grinding.Strong skills in designing and implementing tooling layouts for machining.Deep understanding of machining principles and precision tolerances.Familiarity with shop safety standards and best practices.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with Swiss-style CNC turning machines and screw machines.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
