Energy Storage Project Engineer
Location : Juno beach, Florida or Remote
Contract Duration : 12 Months
Overview of the Role :
The Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Project Engineer who is passionate about renewable energy. In this position you will be heavily involved with battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, to include exposure to cross-functional teams across the organization. You have the critical responsibility of planning, designing, and executing multiple energy storage augmentation projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and execute multiple utility-scale battery energy storage augmentation projects
- Perform detailed design engineering of electrical, structural and civil aspects of utility-scale energy storage augmentation projects
- Manage multiple concurrent high volume battery augmentation projects from conception through execution, working closely with external Engineers of Record, Project Managers and permitting, procurement, interconnection and construction teams
- Prepare technical scopes of work for incorporation into contract documents
Support projects from conception through execution, working closely with early-stage and construction project managers
Influence project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work, including close collaboration with and oversight of external Engineers of RecordMaintain familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areasCollaborate with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, process improvement opportunities, and system integration and controlsSupport energy storage strategies through technical and market analysisIdentify value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospectsRequired Skills & Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science in Electrical / Mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program5+ years of proven engineering experiencePreferred Work Experience :
An SME in substation or utility scale energy storage design and / or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas like Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, and Generation tie design.Design and / or operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants involving adherence to regulatory requirements while maximizing the performance and reliability of technically complex systemsHands-on experience and knowledge of construction methods, including foundations, trenching, electrical terminations and testing, and best safety practicesStrong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries,power conversion units and DC-DC convertersLithium-ion battery storage safety : Familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA70E, NEC, applicable IFC / IBC sectionsFamiliarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment (MMA)processes, particularly in WECC and CAISOPerks of Working with AP Recruiters & Associates :
