Senior Environmental & Transportation Planner

Remote (Atlanta GA or Eastern US)

We help clients achieve compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) through the preparation of or review of Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and Environmental Assessments (EAs) for projects nationwide. ICF is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to work remotely from the Atlanta Georgia area or within the Eastern United States. This position will support clients’ NEPA compliance for transportation projects, including but not limited to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) project, commercial space transportation, unmanned aircraft systems (aka drones), fuel economy standards, and state DOTs / Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

What you will do :

Serve as a lead reviewer for NEPA projects

  • Interact with applicants and agency staff
  • Help agency staff manage the preparation of EAs and EISs (which are usually prepared by the applicant’s contractor).
  • Review NEPA documents prepared by the applicant’s contractor
  • Review environmental components of applications

Serve as a team member for NEPA documents that ICF is preparing

  • Support the project management team for EAs or EISs
  • Act as a lead author for EAs or EISs
  • Serve as a liaison to direct technical staff on project teams.
  • Coordinate project deliverables with document production staff.
  • Monitor project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings (such as preparing agendas, developing and presenting meeting content, and preparing summaries).
  • Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and agency staff.
  • What You Must Have (Minimum Qualifications) :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in natural or physical science, public policy, economics, environmental management, or related subjects.
  • 5+ years of environmental compliance experience
  • What We’d Like You to Have :

  • 5+ years of NEPA experience including preparing and / or reviewing NEPA documents related to transportation (FAA, FHWA, etc.).
  • Experience with related regulations (ESA, NHPA, CWA).
  • Experience leading or supporting project management teams.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
