Position : Art Teacher (Visual Arts)
Type : Full-Time, Contract
Salary Range : $63,500 – $84,000 per year
Responsibilities
Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel welcomed, respected, and inspired to explore and express their creativity through the visual arts.
Build strong relationships with students and families that reflect genuine care, encouragement, and high expectations for students’ artistic, academic, and social-emotional growth.
Design and facilitate rigorous, student-centered art instruction aligned with state standards and the school’s mission to develop well-rounded, innovative thinkers.
Plan and implement differentiated art instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of all students, including those receiving special education services, multilingual learners, students in intervention programs, and students who are accelerated.
Provide engaging instruction across multiple visual art disciplines, emphasizing both creative process and technical skill development.
Assess and analyze student work through portfolios and projects to inform instruction and support individual artistic growth.
Foster and promote school values to ensure a positive, caring, responsive, and safe studio environment that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to develop best practices in arts integration and support whole-child development.
Curate and display student artwork throughout the school and at special events to celebrate achievement and strengthen community engagement in the visual arts program.
Arrive at school each day by 7 : 30 a.m. and depart no earlier than 3 : 45 p.m.
Qualifications
NJ Teacher Certification or Certificate of Eligibility in Art Education required
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of two years of teaching experience preferred
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and engage students across grade levels and abilities
Strong classroom management skills and ability to maintain a productive, creative, and safe learning environment
Self-reflective and committed to professional growth and continual learning
